Our shopping bags are eco-friendly because they are made from either compostable EcoVio® resin or recyclable kraft paper. Perfect for carry-out meals and other shopping needs, these shopping bags are strong and durable. EcoSafe® shopping bags are certified compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI®) to meet ASTM standards. These bags are compostable in commercial and municipal compost facilities, which may not be available in all areas.

Are there biodegradable shopping bags?

Most shopping bags are not biodegradable. A better option is a compostable shopping bag. These bags can be processed in a commercial composting facility, so they do not need to be sent to a landfill. Please check locally as composting facilities are not available in all areas.

Are paper shopping bags compostable?

Paper shopping bags that do not have a plastic coating or other plastic parts are accepted by many commercial composting facilities. While these items are not certified, many commercial composting facilities accept uncoated paper items such as bags, napkins and paper towels. Please check with your local composting facility for additional details.

Are plastic bags recyclable?

Most plastic grocery bags are not recyclable in curbside or municipal programs. Many grocery stores have recycling programs for bags, so please check with your local store to see if they accept bags for recycling.
