Ingredients:

  • 2 cups turkey drippings (from your roasted turkey)

  • 2 cups gluten-free chicken or turkey broth

  • 1/4 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter or dairy-free margarine

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Collect Drippings:

  • After roasting your turkey, collect the drippings from the roasting pan. You can do this by pouring the drippings through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl or a fat separator to separate the liquid from the fat.

2. Prepare the Roux:

  • In a saucepan, melt the unsalted butter or dairy-free margarine over medium heat.

  • Once melted, add the gluten-free all-purpose flour to the melted butter. Stir continuously to create a smooth paste, also known as a roux. Cook the roux for about 2-3 minutes until it turns a light golden color, but be careful not to let it brown too much.

3. Add Drippings and Broth:

  • Gradually whisk in the turkey drippings and gluten-free chicken or turkey broth. Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and there are no lumps.

4. Simmer and Thicken:

  • Bring the mixture to a simmer while continuing to whisk. Let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes or until it thickens to your desired consistency.

5. Season:

  • Taste the gravy and season with salt and black pepper as needed. The amount of seasoning required may vary depending on the saltiness of your turkey drippings and broth.

6. Serve:

  • Once the gravy has reached your desired thickness and flavor, remove it from the heat. Pour it into a gravy boat or serving dish.

7. Enjoy:

  • Serve the gluten-free turkey gravy alongside your Thanksgiving turkey and other dishes.

This gluten-free turkey gravy is rich, flavorful, and the perfect complement to your Thanksgiving feast. Enjoy!
