Oregon EPR Infomation
Oregon's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Law and Your Green Paper Products Orders
The State of Oregon has implemented an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law (SB 582B) for packaging materials. This law shifts the responsibility for managing the end-of-life of packaging materials from local governments to producers.
What does this mean for Green Paper Products and our Oregon customers?
This law requires Green Paper Products to join a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) and pay fees to support the collection, transportation, processing, and recycling of packaging materials in Oregon. To cover these costs, we will be adding a 3% EPR fee to all orders shipped to Oregon.
Why is Oregon implementing EPR?
EPR programs aim to:
Increase recycling rates
Reduce waste and pollution
Encourage producers to design more sustainable packaging
Fund improvements to recycling infrastructure
How will the EPR fee be used?
The fees collected will be used to support the following activities in Oregon:
Expanding access to recycling services
Improving recycling infrastructure
Supporting the development of new recycling technologies
Educating consumers about recycling
