Gluten-Free Apple Crisp

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

For the Gluten-Free Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (or dairy-free alternative), cold and cubed


Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Prepare the Apple Filling:

  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced and peeled apples, granulated sugar, cornstarch, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and fresh lemon juice. Toss the mixture until the apples are evenly coated.

3. Make the Crumble Topping:

  • In a separate bowl, combine the gluten-free rolled oats, gluten-free all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.

  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture becomes crumbly and resembles coarse meal.

4. Assemble and Bake:

  • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.

5. Bake:
